A Mitsubishi Power Americas and CONSAG Engenharia consortium has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a thermal power project in Brazil named Portocém.
According to the agreement, Mitsubishi Power will provide four M501JAC-enhanced air-cooled gas turbines to the project. CONSAG, meanwhile, will overlook the remaining plant, utilities, civil works, assembly and commissioning of Portocém, as well as its associated transmission line and substation.
Developed by Portcoém Geração de Energia and New Fortress Energy, the project finished its permitting process last March. It has already secured a 15-year capacity reserve contract.
Construction works for the Portocém power plant are currently ongoing, with commercial operations slated for 2026.
